Aquamarine Cut Stones

The name aquamarine itself conjures up images of a tranquil blue sea speckled with sparkly sun-dust, little wonder then, that its literal translation from the Latin means water of the sea - aqua water, marine sea. Aquamarines belong to the gem family beryl that also counts the emerald as its member. Aquamarines are available in a multitude of shapes, sizes, hues and can be fashioned into beads, cabochons and cut stones as well.

Legends consider aquamarine as the treasure of Atlantis, with the power to keep sailors safe at sea.

Not surprisingly ancient Greeks and Romans valued the aquamarine as a sailor's stone for protection. An aquamarine was usually worn to ensure a safe and prosperous passage across stormy seas. Several other cultures such as the Sumerians, Egyptians, and Hebrews also admired aquamarine and considered it a symbol of happiness, courage and everlasting youth. This soothingly colored stone is believed to have a calming influence on relationships, especially marriage. Aquamarine is the birthstone for March and is often chosen to be gifted on anniversaries.

Beacab.com has several aquamarines cut stones ranging from 20 carats to almost 100 carats. Colors range from a soothing pale blue to an intense deep sea blue, ideal for setting into a statement ring or pendant.
