Emeralds have been synonymous with royalty in the world of gemstones for centuries. The rich, vivid green of emeralds is soothing and regal at the same time and many count this gem among their most favored gemstones. Emeralds are available in many forms such as beads, cabochons, carvings, cut (or faceted) stones, drops and briolettes. Emerald cut stones and emerald beads are available in a variety of colors (by colors we means shades of green). Emerald colors range from a clear green with yellowish overtones to a deep emerald green with a hint of blue within the depths. Cut stones and beads can be fashioned in a variety of shapes and sizes. Stones could be round—faceted or smooth cabochons, oval, rectangular or square (princess shaped). Beads could be smooth round, rectangular, carved in irregular shapes or resembling birds, animals or flowers and leaves, quarter moon shaped, pear shaped, oval, tumbled, faceted tumbled, faceted smooth, or drop shaped. Emerald Beads could range from as tiny as 2mm across diameters to large 25mm beads. They could be similar matched sizes or graduated strings ideal for classy simple necklaces.
