Royal red rubies have set many a heart aflutter with their gorgeous passionate color and mystical association with life and strength, power and passion. Rubies belong to the gem family corundum and for many it is hard to imagine that this fiery red stone and the tranquil blue sapphire are from the same family - corundum.
